The Tourist

By Xènia Nogué

Last week I watched a very interesting film: “The Tourist”. It's the latest film with Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie. They act together to make an amazing and fantastic film but it's a little bit confusing. It's about a woman who loves a man, but he swindled another man from the Mafia who wants to kill him. So, she is trying to help him but the Mafia's men are always following in her footsteps. The man’s name is Frank, and the woman’s name is Elise. He sends a message to her: she has to choose one man on her train and act as he was Frank. She does it. But the man who Elise chooses isn't who she wants... Elise and Frank are involved in a race against the Mafia's men and the police. A lot of action takes place in Italy and there is shooting, and chases too. At the end she discovers all the truth about Frank, but I’m not going to explain that...

However, I promise you that it's interesting to watch and I recommend this amazing film.

THE SHINING

By Pol Berbel and Marta Nicolàs

This is a psychological horror film directed by Stanley Kubrick. The script was written by the novelist Diane Johnson. Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall, and Danny Lloyd appear in the cast. The film is based on the novel of the same name, by Stephen King. It is about a married writer who has a young son and accepts the job of off-season caretaker at an isolated hotel. The son has psychic powers, he is able to see things in the future or past, such as the ghosts in the hotel. Soon after the family moves there, the father becomes influenced by the supernatural presence in the haunted hotel; he goes mad and tries to kill his wife and son.

We think that this film is one of the best films that has ever been made. We saw it two years ago, and it was very frightening. Jack Nicholson acts really well. If you like horror films, we recommend you to watch it.

Los ojos de Julia

By Marta Nicolàs and Pol Berbel

Julia is a woman who suffers from a degenerative sight disease. She finds her twin sister Sara, blind because of the same disease, hanged in the basement of her house. It seems a case of suicide, but Julia decides to investigate because she thinks her sister was murdered. At the same time as Julia begins to discover the truth about her sister's death, her sight deteriorates and a series of strange deaths and disappearances occur.
We think that this is a very good film. We saw “El Orfanato” and we liked that too. “El Orfanato” and “Los Ojos de Julia” have the same production company, “Rodar y Rodar”, and the same main actress, Belén Rueda. She acts very well. We were scared in some scenes.

The make-up is excellent, Julia's face at Sara's funeral is very impressive. She has a very sad face. And Sara's eyes are striking. We think that it is a film worth seeing, because it is excellent and all the cast acts very well.

CALIMERO

By Venus Villa

Calimero was created for an advertisement for a detergent in 1961. Then in July 1963 the brothers Nino and Toni Pagot created a series dedicated to him entitled "Calimero, the Black Chick”. And this was the beginning of the stories of Calimero.

Calimero is an Italian cartoon. He is the only one with black feathers in his family, where all the others have yellow feathers. In this series, it explains that he is black is because he fell in the mud when he was born. The little chick carries half of its shell on his head.

In the series, Calimero is introduced as the sixteenth child of a chicken called Cesira, who rejects him because he is black, but only in appearance. Calimero lives a lot of adventures in which truth and goodness always triumph, because he is honest all the time. At the end of each episode it is revealed that Calimero is not black: the chick is only dirty and is cleaned with the detergent that he advertises.

In the late seventies, the Pagots wanted to introduce Calimero to the United States but this was not possible because he was rejected by American culture, as the chick was black and at that time this could have created controversy.

MAIN CHARACTERS

Calimero: The hero of the series.

Priscilla: Calimero's girlfriend, a shy chick with common sense.

Piero: Susy's boyfriend, a green duck. Her parents are millionaires.

Valerian: A green chick who likes to tell stories.

Rosella: A chick who is Valerian’s girlfriend.

Susy: A millionaire who is very stingy, because her mother works in television.
